THE SNIFF: featuring Kate, Jake & Brunson

Tell us a little about you!

Hi CornChip Dog Collective, Kate and Jake here! We live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We're music lovers and avid concert goers; jam bands, rock, and idie are our languages of choice.

Tell us a little about Brunson! 

We have a mixed breed pup named Brunson (named after Jalen Brunson, the captain of the New York Knicks). He's mostly Rottweiler with some Pitty, Siberian Husky, and American Staffy mixed in. We just celebrated his first birthday in January!

Where did you rescue Brunson? What made you decide to adopt a pup? 

We adopted Brunson from Muddy Paws Rescue. Neither of us grew up with dogs despite both wanting one our whole lives. As soon as we felt that we were ready to take on the responsibility to adopt our own, we kept our eyes peeled on rescue websites knowing that our perfect pup was already out there and would somehow find their way to us. Luckily he did.

What's a personality quirk you love about Brunson? 

Our favorite Brunson quirk is probably a mix of his love for water and confusion around TV. He doesn't quite understand that what's on the TV isn't actually real, so when we're watching a show that has water in it, he tries to jump in to go swimming.

What's something Brunson has taught you that you've come to value over time? 

Brunson has taught us that value should not be placed in things (RIP to all of the lost hats, socks, furniture legs, debit cards, and airpods chewed up in Brunson's teething phase), but rather in moments of togetherness with true happiness and meaning.

What's your favorite way to spend time with Brunson? 

Brunson's favorite thing to do on a nice day is to go to the dog park where he splits his time between soaking in the kiddy pool and politely asking his friends to chase him. We love to watch Brunson play with that big doofy smile on his face.
